THE EFFECT OF DRINKING TOO MUCH SODA

Does soda prove to be dangerous for us? Numerous studies have been carried out by scientists around the world about whether there are benefits or not. Most scientists find that drinking too much soda creates adverse effects rather than positive effects. The real problem we are facing in this century is we are consuming too much soda because it is addictive and refreshing which make us forget that we have consumed it too much. Our society has become treated to various kinds of flavoured soda that make us feel insufficient if we do not drink it every day. Some of us ignore the adverse effects that occur to us because we have not experienced it yet. Therefore, we have to open our eyes and realize the danger of drinking too much soda. It would be better if we prevent it start from now on rather than regretting later. Drinking too much soda is one issue that needs to be solved with the awareness of each because it has many effects on some parts of our body and some health problems will arise.
One of the effects that will occur on the part of our body by drinking too much soda is damage to teeth. Phosphoric acid is a critical constituent in soda. This material is mainly used to give a characteristic flavour of soda that is strong and to inhibit the development of fungi and bacteria in soda. When used in limited quantities, phosphoric acid is not harmful to the body, but if used in high doses it will interfere with the absorption of calcium minerals. Calcium deficiency can cause bones to weaken, make teeth brittle and more susceptible to damage. Laboratory tests on soda acidity indicate that the amount of acid in soda is sufficient to remove tooth enamel. The pH level in the soda can be as low as 2.5 because the acid frame of the reference battery has a pH of 1, water has a pH of 7.0. Damage to this protective layer can make teeth more vulnerable to cavities, discolouration and ultimately tooth decay. Another effect is obesity; high fructose corn syrup is a form of concentrated sugar derived from corn. Because it is cheaper, durable and easier to use than natural sugar, most soda manufacturers use it more often. Intake of calorie-rich soda consist of high fructose corn syrup is a significant cause of obesity. Obesity itself increases the risk of metabolic syndrome, a group of conditions that include high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist.
Apart from the effects that will occur on our waistline and teeth, drinking soda has a much more severe health risk than many people realize. Drinking soda in the middle of hot air is not only able to relieve thirst, but also makes the body become fresher and feel cooler. However, behind the pleasure of cold foam, stored the danger of soda can attack the body. One of them is cancer. The ingredients that trigger cancer in soda are the artificial brown colouring in colas and yellow tartrazine which usually found in lemon soft drinks. These chemicals have also been known to increase asthma attacks and worsen asthma symptoms. Partly connecting to this effect, soda also can increase diabetes risk. Excessive calorie and sugar intake coupled with low physical activity make these substances rarely used. Calories and sugar are finally stores and accumulated in the body. The mounting amount of sugar is thought to be closely related to diabetes. There is scientific evidence shows that soft drinks containing sugar can increase the risk of developing type 2 of diabetes.
Shortly, companies have permission to make these soda and are not violate the rules set by the government. We as consumers are allowed to consume these drinks, and it depends on our awareness to not drinking too much soda. Start from now to avoid a disease caused by soda, don’t consume soda that contains artificial sugar. Let's replace it with a healthier drink like mineral water, lemon water, smoothies, and many other healthy drinks. We may, then, be safe from or at least reduce the effects of drinking too much soda.
